Can I say, this thing threw me for a loop. I don't really follow comic book heroes but about halfway through this trailer I welled up. I am so ready for strong women to be in charge.

(37,748 posts)I'm really looking forward to this!!! I've never really read comic books, but these newer iterations of the different franchises (Avengers, most recent Batman, etc.) have really knocked my socks off.
I have a feeling Wonder Woman is going to knock it out of the park!

(7,570 posts)I had never heard of Gal Gadot prior to this movie being made. I saw a few pictures of her, and she looked like a waifish fashion model to me. I couldn't believe someone like that was chosen to play Wonder Woman.
But she was really the one bright spot in that travesty of a Batman/Superman movie. She was the only reason I didn't walk out of it. She fleshed that character out. Ms Gadot obviously gets what Wonder Woman is about, and I'm hoping that the director and writers of this new movie have the same understanding.

(63,212 posts)She conveyed a relaxed, confident strength that contrasted the gritty pseudo-gravitas of Bats & Supes. If that film serves only as an introduction to Gadot's Diana, it will have been worth it.
Christopher Reeve ran into the same resistance when he was cast as Superman. Michael Keaton got it for playing Batman. Robert Downey for playing Tony Stark. But they all were phenomenal in their roles, because they were and are all really good actors.

Probably pretty tough in real life.

She was in a couple Fast & Furious movies, though didn't say much.

Better yet, they are creating a strong female heroine without having to sex it up too much and make her strong and feminine.
Agree with others about the horrible Batman vs superman movie - it was so awful - but her introduction was the highlight and now to see this trailer has me excited to see it!
