The rice raises blood-sugar levels fast and the beans keep them steady thereafter. Your blood-sugar levels are probably not rising fast enough with just the beans. To me, beans and rice is the most satisfying dish and I think it's because of that synergy.

it takes 20 minutes for satiety to kick in. eat whatever you eat as slowly as you can. have some vegetables with that, dark colorful ones.
