Turns out, there seems to be a consensus about one thing: Milk proteins can bind with the beneficial plant compounds known as flavonols in tea. (You may have heard these compounds referred to by specific names such as catechins.) And, according to some scientists, the binding may make it tough for the body to absorb the flavonols and get the health benefits.

Was on here as bluecollar prior to the hack.

Have no idea what my original email was when I first joined back when Dubya was first selected so I can't reopen that account...

Lost all my post counts etc...

Oh well...I grew up drinking tea with cream and sugar....can't drink it any other way.

a bit of sugar and it is lovely! Not sure if it's the crock cups, or the tea blend. Wish I could duplicate it at home.

bitter, especially matcha. Its the best way to drink them. We Americans put too much sugar in everything, including things that never required sugar in the first place.

I don't know the name of it, but a mug of some sort of smoked tea was given to me that cried out for milk. It had a bitter almost tarry taste.

I was presented a mug of tea in our factory in South Wales, just after a transatlantic flight. It was given as if it were a cure for all that ailed me. I think the tea started steeping when I was still in Dulles Airport. He had added milk, but it only turned the tea grayish brown. That was the strongest cuppa I've ever had.

Milk, no. Sugar, yes, yes. Hot or iced, but especially iced. And there is absolutely nothing better for a cold or sinus issues than piping hot tea with sugar and lots of lemon or lime.

to give those stomach enzymes something to chew on while the tea performs its magic. Anything hot in a teabag, e.g. Lipton, demands milk—should one be so unfortunate as to be without recourse.
