The once elegant and beautiful Lobster Trap Restaurant in Oxnard, California is closed and left abandoned on the Channel Islands Harbor Marina. Next door, its sister building, the Casa Sirena Hotel is also slowly deteriorating.
The dining tables still has white tablecloths and salt and pepper shakers on it. It looks as if everyone had left in a hurry and never came back. Chairs are scattered about with some old festive decorations still hanging from the chandeliers in one of the event rooms. It was such an eerie scene.

(8,308 posts)stuff like that. And I see it a lot as I follow photographers who shoot abandoned buildings. All those perfectly good chairs, tables, etc. that could be put to use instead of just left to rot. It should be a crime. I know all about foreclosure rules but after a short amount of time, someone should be allowed to go in and retrieve what is still usable.
Oh well, nice video anyway.

(8,632 posts)So much furniture just going to waste. I don't know why, but the left behind salt and pepper shakers really unnerved me. Probably because they were still full and I know there's hungry people out there who might appreciate using it.

I remember a few years ago a hardware store in town went bankrupt. There was a sign in the window saying absolutely no one could go in and touch anything, and there was lots of tools and stuff still in there. Fortunately someone bought the place later so that didn't got to waste, AFAIK.
