Negan will probably survive. Unfortunately.
And he'll help, eventually, to rid the group of the trash heap people - who will turn ugly in the end. Maybe.
I don't know. lol
Storming here, under flash flood warning, raining like crazy, yard is already under water....so, as long as the power holds out, I'm watching.

Rick backing away. lol
Sasha is so going to die tonight and they are making it worse for us.
Abraham! Even for the moment!!!
Sasha will offer herself up as the one to die.
I'm already sad.
Trash heap people have eyes on the Rick homestead.
Eugene has to die, too. Sorry. He has to go. No redemption from me.
Ha! Knew it! Told my husband last week if the trash heap people didn't betray Rick tonight then they would eventually have to fight them. I figured they'd have to fight the thp sooner or later.
And they betrayed them tonight.
THL was the real little birdie.
Who will come to the rescue?
Baitball Blogger
(46,733 posts)Just means someone else has to die.
Eugene gets redemption if he pulls out a bomb out of that coffin.

(90,771 posts)Now recall Eugene's own words - people will die by the decisions they make today. Well, I am not the only one who wrote him off.
He wrote himself off with his own words.
Baitball Blogger
(46,733 posts)He gives them the bullets they need to tip the scales?
Solly Mack
(90,771 posts)does Eugene run off to be with who he thinks can protect him better? That has been his MO. He didn't just tell Rosita to take a right, take a left, take another right, just to find Glenn and Tara - he sensed their giving natures compared to Abraham's aggressive behavior. Abraham was giving as well - just in a bad place mentally. Eugene saved Abraham with his lies as much as Abraham saved him to be sure.
I think Eugene wanted more people, more options for his survival.
Granted, he was taken by Negan and he was brave to speak up....but Eugene can't be trusted.
He needed Sasha to stay and accept Negan to validate his own decision. Well, I'm not so wrong if someone like Sasha will do the same.
Eugene is a coward...that's fine. But he said it himself...he is a selfish coward. Selfish being the one trait you can't trust. Not in their world.
Abraham and Sasha were talking about dying is OK when you do it for others. To keep them safe. To keep the future going.
Eugene? Not at all.
When Eugene saw those books in his room, when he had a video game to play - plenty of food and strong people to watch over him - as one of the named and not a number - he was bought. Full hog.
But let's say he does help Rick and the rest get into the Sanctuary and then does even more to take the Saviors out, then maybe - just maybe - I'll grant him the exact same kind of reprieve Daryl granted Dwight. Provisional, and dependent upon outcomes.
That said - I have enjoyed Eugene in the comics.

(19,565 posts)This was a satisfying season end for me. I knew Sasha was going to make that choice and was hoping she'd come back somehow and wreck havoc as a walker... then the coffin and you knew it was going to be so.
I just caught up on the series last week, and just now finished the last episode, so I didn't get to play in here with all you. I kind of wish I hadn't boycotted (but still DVR'd) it for so long now. This turned out to be a good season sans the first episode. Which I still think was a classic example of overplaying a big dramatic moment. Yes, even now after seeing the finale.

(50 posts)are there any good guys on the show?
or just villains and "anti" heroes?
I mean, besides the gore, what is the appeal?
and I specifically DON'T watch it because of the gore. But people just want to watch shit that turns them callous too..those are the real zombies..
people without empathy or feelings for each other.
Baitball Blogger
(46,733 posts)Good guys? The purest in the group died early. What we learned about "society", given the new conditions, is that survival requires crossing that line. You will have to kill zombies, or people who want you dead. Period.
But, what we learned in this season is that "the good people" who learned to follow these rules and were good at it, are now dealing with PTSD. They tried to seek more peaceful environments to get away from the killing, but in the end, had to return to it for...wait for it...survival.

(3,473 posts)I guess the closest thing to bad the group did was when Rick's group raided the Savior's outpost and killed them in their sleep, but they were soldiers of Negan. They were the enemy. They murdered people trying to mind their own business so it's hard to feel bad for them. Some of them may have only been working for Negan out of fear that he would kill them or people they cared about if they didn't do as they were told, but 'Just following orders' isn't an excuse for murder. So I have little sympathy for them.
It took a while to get to that point. The initial episodes were about the collapse of society and how different people dealt with it. How far some people would go to protect loved ones. How far some people would go to protect themselves.
I would definitely call the Saviors and smaller groups they encountered before them the villains and I am leaning towards good guys for Rick's group. Time and time again they try to find or build a peaceful society, but bad guys get in the way and they have no choice but to fight. So it isn't about equally nasty gangs fighting each other for power like in some movies and shows. I probably wouldn't care for the show if it was. Sons of Anarchy is a violent show that I never really go into because I didn't find the characters likable.

(90,771 posts)When you consider her arc from the prison until now. They made it hard because of how the show played out, you knew she was going to die - you just knew. And with the Abraham scenes making it worse. But then you know not-so-dead Sasha would come out and all hell would break loose - you cheered. She's dead but she died for others. She died to keep the future alive. All those times she was ready to give up, after Bob, after Tyreese....only to find hope with Abraham...a hope she carried with her even after his death. A purpose and not just shutting herself off.
Still not pleased with Eugene though.
I got a thing about loyalty. Obviously. lol
I adore JDM even though I want his character killed off.
Love the beard.
Long live Sasha!
Glad SM explained her comments to Eugene.

"War" for the next two seasons?
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)seems to have some good long-term ideas for the show, but a lot of times, the execution is poor. They really didn't need an entire hour to set up the big showdown in Alexandria. It really could have been done in 30 minutes with 25 minutes for the showdown and then the 5 minutes to wrap it all up. The last 30 minutes was great, though.
The same thing happened with last year's finale - they spent an hour setting up the group being entrapped by Negan and The Saviors and then we had the showdown and the Negan monologue. They could just as easily done the entrapment in 30 minutes and have Negan make his entrance at the end again.
