It's being promoted like the cure for cancer.
Was the hole-ful belt a major problem? How did I survive all these years wearing a caveman's belt full of holes?

(5,754 posts)so if you gain weight, it's obvious. I think it's related to the obesity epidemic.

(2,176 posts)I bought one for my husband and he loves it. My feeling is, where does your belt wear? At the hole most often used. So in this kind of belt it will never wear out because the leather isn't stressed at any point. He likes it and it looks good. Also, for people with neuropathy in their hands or arthritis they are easier to put on. It does not cure cancer though.

(63,215 posts)The first time I encountered this revolutionary technology was when a friend/coworker showed his off like a proud parent. I mocked him as a lazy, uncoordinated millennial, but that's the nature of our friendship.
I can see how it would be quite useful for people with manual dexterity issues, though.

(7,300 posts)They've been around for decades. Wore one in scouts in the 70's and again in the military.
I forgot about those BSA belts.

(63,215 posts)"Authentic-ish" in terms of the design, at least. It's leather with a steel has a ring but no holes. I haven't worn it (or participated in those events) for many years, but for the life of me I was never able to get that thing to hold. I'm not even particularly corpulent, but it required almost constant re-tightening even without any great strain upon it.
Maybe that's where my prejudice originated.

(7,529 posts)One is a little too snug, the other is too loose. Yes, like Goldilocks!
I like the idea of a belt that can be adjusted infinitely. I guess it just squeezes at the point you set it?

(62,444 posts)Quite obviously, an belt must have a hole. Otherwise, it is not topologically possible for it to function.
