Help me out. Examples of 60s-70s BAD attempts at being cool in media.

This, which of course was all over the place yesterday, is the ultimate I think. But I remember TV shows and movies trying SO hard to be all groovy and far out and failing miserably. Of course I could use some examples. Help!

Whaddaya got?

their LW show. I can remember seeing this!! while they were watching that night.

I just got really quiet, waiting for them to say something, anything about the song.

Because I KNEW.

But they didn't. Now I wish I would have checked their feet at the time, to see if they were tapping them to the tune,,,,

Any of the druggies they had on that show were so over the top, I think some character painted his face green and jumped out of a building or something on one show.

Peace

Classic beyond classic on how far out of touch some TV writers can be.
Literally everything about the episode was cliche and just plain stupid and laughable.

They really did. I think Laugh In played on the idea of old guys being groovy, and the Brothers were just groovy. That straight line between folk and hip.

I'm not sure he meant it as a joke, since we used to watch it with my Polish grandmother, she enjoyed it. As a little kid, I liked the Lennon Sisters, still remember all their names. But given the audience of the show, this has to be one of the funniest moments in TV history!

There were stories that he lived next door to Ozzy and was t thrilled with their shenanigans but the fact he did Crazy Train for the series probably brought him more money than he'd seen in years. Ick.

The cheapskate (i.e., over-the-air) TV shows back-to-back episodes of that on Sunday afternoons. The fashions are hard to take.

My favorites were the "counterculture" in depth news segments that showed people under 25 who were obviously putting them on. Runner up were the cop and crime shows. Third were music acts aimed at the flabby suburbs in "60s" garb.

Oh, and the fashion and interior desecration magazines. Oh, my gawd, did anybody wear that stuff? Did anybody really live like that?

http://flashbak.com/pages-of-polyester-the-sears-1974-catalog-1687/ When people want to know what finally killed Sears, I say "polyester." Before they discovered that shit, they sold classic if dowdy stuff that lasted. Once polyester invaded them, it was only a matter of time.

It was any TV show or movie that showed people under 25 dancing, especially to live music. It was grisly.
