I wonder why?

OK I finally got a picture of him. I could not get one of him pecking the door. That bird is too fast. I missed shots many times- he's fast. I finally got one of him flying off after he spotted me with my cell phone.

(23,238 posts)...we had our cars parked close to our campsite. The second day of the camp, a cardinal flew in and saw his reflection in an outside rear-view mirror. He proceeded to attack that "other bird" FEROCIOUSLY! DAILY for the rest of the week! Three or four times a day, we would see him going at his mirror image *Hammer*And*Tong*!! It was hysterical to see!
One of the camp traditions is for certain people in authority in the camp to take a Native American "name." So we "named" this bird "Fierce Fighting Cardinal". Those individuals wore plastic eagle "claws" hung around their necks, and the high-up "chiefs" wore red paint on theirs. Since this bird's feet were red, we mad him an honorary chief of the camp. "Chief Fierce Fighting Cardinal."
yeah, this critter is probably seeing his reflection in the glass, and can't comprehend that it's a reflection. To him, it's an interloper in *his* territory, and he's determined to run him out!

(2,533 posts)My chihuahua did the same thing with the bottom glass oven door as she walked in front of it for a long time. She would see herself and bark and bark . My yard had really quite a few scissor tails out there today. There must be some kind of insect out there they like
