I mean, he's cruel to animals, sure, but he's not really macabre like the rest of the family. He's just sort of bratty.

(63,215 posts)Turns out he was meant as sort of a mad (and mildly malign) genius inventor-type, crafting various dangerous items such as a disintegrator gun, etc.
I didn't recall this, but in the show he collected road signs, while the original cartoon version collected hazard signs ("dangerous undertow," "bridge out," "danger high voltage," etc.) in order to eliminate those warnings, thereby exposing passersby to injury or death.
He was greatly overshadowed by Christina Ricci's unforgettable Wednesday Addams in the films, but Pugsley himself was apparently a richer character than I new.
I've never quite understood Marilyn Munster's inclusion in that family, either.
