"Atlas Hugged"!!!

Daily Shouts
Upcoming Utopian Novels (Now that We Live in a Dystopia)

“2084”

A futuristic novel, “2084” centers on a self-driving car named Winston that lives in a world where humans have reversed global warming. His owner is a math teacher named Julia. (Fun fact: Julia is on birth control that doesn’t have side effects!) Winston has a big brother, an eco-friendly Hummer named Daniel, who periodically brings him renewable-energy snacks.

“The Happy Games”

Children from every state are invited to participate in a national art competition as a result of the incredibly well-endowed federal arts budget. The winners travel to Washington, D.C., and meet the President of the United States, who is a very kind woman and also a doctor. Plot twist: everyone’s a winner!

“Animal Town”

Written in Seussian rhyme, this children’s book is filled with many cute animals that live wherever they like, not necessarily on a farm! The main character is a fun horse that continues to live at the end of the story (oops, spoiler alert!). Again, the animals do not live on a farm—except for the ones that choose to live there because they can do whatever they want! So much freedom. So much choice. So many horses that are definitely alive. (The pigs are also extra nice and generous in this.)

“The Receiver”

Jonas, a young boy, lives next door to an old man whose job is accepting compliments without being douchey about it. The old man has twenty-twenty vision and can see all colors, just like Jonas and also everyone else in the world.
