(53,975 posts)It's been three years for me, but vaping is how I quit! I am no longer on BP meds. I have my original sense of smell back (a bit of a curse, since I have my mom's sense of smell).
You can do it!!!

(23,738 posts)The little ecigs weren't really doing it, but I got one of the 'mod box' types, and that made all the difference. Much more like 'smoke'.
I started on 12 mg, and eventually weaned myself down to 3 mg. Now, I barely vape at all. Once or twice per day, sometimes none per day. I hardly ever crave it anymore, even though my wife still smokes.
Good Luck!

(7,754 posts)and never allowed myself to buy another pack. I started off with high octane juice 24mg. because that's what it took to satisfy my cigarette craving and over the years I have tapered off. Now I find I often go for hours or even all day without a vape but it's still there if I need it. I didn't gain much weight and my lungs were at 100% within a couple of months.
You are doing yourself a HUGE favor. Vaping is so much better for your health. You will be so happy.
Now I even have a smoke with a friend when we are out for an evening and I have no desire to go back to smoking.

(7,754 posts)atomizers and batteries and I really don't vape much any more. It's more of a crutch to make sure I don't gain 40 lbs like all the other times I quit. Costs less than a dollar a day and doesn't affect my health at all as far as a know. I'm 68 and still hiking and swimming and camping with my grandkids and having fun.

(856 posts)I'm coming up on three years and also quit by first switching to vaping and then tapering down the strength of the juice. There were some tough moments but, overall, I was surprised at how easy it was. I have an app on my phone where I entered the time and date date of my last cigarette, the price I was paying and how much I smoked. It counts down to the second how long it's been since my last cigarette and also tells me I have saved over $6,600 since I quit buying cigarettes. Both helped motivate me. If that app isn't around anymore (it's called "Since I Quit" , I am sure there are others that do much the same thing.
Good luck, we're all pulling for you!

(7,813 posts)Vaping ever since. The wheeze disappeared early on and climbing stairs is easy now.
My flavor is peppermint.

(3,473 posts)Unfortunately, there is a bit of
anti-vaping propoganda out there that may discourage some people. Both big tobacco and big pharma stand to lose money if people quit this way.

(24,767 posts)Big Tobacco and Big Pharma hate the competition. They don't like us vapers because we're taking smoking cessation into our own hands.
meow2u3
(24,767 posts)Is your nicotine level high, e.g., 18mg nic/ml of juice? That's normal for new vapers.
The longer you vape, the less nicotine you'll need. You'll find yourself vaping with lower nicotine levels, which will likely take a couple of years. Just don't go back to smoking.
BootinUp
(47,177 posts)A conversion for mg/ml but my educated guess is that 5% is less than half as strong as what u started with.
meow2u3
(24,767 posts)5% would translate to 50mg nic per ml. That would be awfully strong!
.5% = 5mg nic/ml.
BootinUp
(47,177 posts)Can't be right.
BootinUp
(47,177 posts)Close, so 5% would be in neighborhood of 5 mg/100 ml.

My brother tried for years to quit and used every product on the market to no avail until he started vaping. He has not had a CIG for ten years.

(9,894 posts)three years ago by vaping. I recently went 10 days while traveling without vaping and never even thought about it. I pretty much vape with little or no nicotine nowadays. And I wasn't that motivated to quit, I just thought I should. So it does work.
