(23,287 posts)Worked. Buried my father. Worked. Taken care of my mother. Worked. Surfed DU and a few other sites. Searched the net for a new job. Worked. Played Frisbee Can Jam for twenty minutes. Worked........
I think that's most of it...
In my next life, I want to be rich instead of brilliant. And good-looking -- **SNORT!**
I'm sorry for your loss. I wish you well with taking care of your mother and good luck with the new job search!

(7,911 posts)Instead,
- I've walked a couple miles every morning,
- weeded my yard,
- laid down weed barrier cloth and spread bark mulch in the flower beds,
- planted some new shrubs,
- put several hanging flower baskets around the deck,
- cleaned out the garden shed,
- and I'm loving every minute of it!
I see a lot of people my age (71-3/4) who can't even walk, so I consider myself very fortunate.

(60,019 posts)- went outside and had a cool drink - (I spend 3-4 hours each day out gardening - LOTS of cold drinks follow!)
- rode a bike (often)
- went on a vacation! (several - life feels like a vacation right now!)
- attended or hosted a cookout with a grill involved (I grill all the time - salmon, shrimp, veggies)
- drove over 90 miles out of state
- woke up the next day (here I am!)
- tried a food you've never tried before (always - my new favorite - fennel!)
- listened to music you normally don't listen too (all the time, thanks to my Echo and Pandora)
- tried cooking something new. (I succeeded with lots of new recipes!)
I've spent time listening to the birds, tending the garden and eating what comes from it, kayaking on a lake, biking, taking long hikes in the woods, visiting some cool cities like Burlington VT, spent time on Sunset Lake NH, going down memory lane and recalling playing games on our front porch with friends listening to the Beatles on a little AM radio, trying all sorts of new recipes, blogging, writing, reading great books to my wife.
It's been quite a nice summer (although of course trump anger is always just under the surface) - but we've yet to truly roast in Raleigh...and actually had a week of spring like weather.

(21,188 posts)I have been on a mini vacation to Lake Tahoe
Went swimming
Danced like a fool ( I love to turn on you tube on my tv and dance to music videos Bruno mars is my fav this summer)
Drank a bit much (seems more than usual since the orangeshitgibbon was installed by Russia)
Played with a fidget spinner
Tried a new food
Tried cooking something new( never cooked a pork tenderloin before now I am addicted)
I also experienced a death in the family this Thursday. My a hole brother in law who I haven't spoken to in 4 years died( it was expected) I immediately went to my sisters home to be there with her. I stayed there the whole day and let her lean on me as they were removing his dead body. I am going to help her with settling his estate like I did our Mother's last year. He was a miserable rethug who said mean hateful stuff to me and called my autistic son a mongoloid retard who is a burden on taxpayer money. That was the final straw for on July 3 2013, I never saw or talked to him again. I still maintained my relationship with my sister and I look forward to spending more time with her this summer.

Not so sure about that body in the trunk though? That might haunt me.
