New coffee pods promise a two-way buzz: From marijuana and caffeine
Want your morning coffee to come with a little extra buzz? Brewbudz just might do the trick. A company called Cannabiniers on Wednesday launched the Brewbudz, which is the worlds first cannabis infused coffee, tea and cocoa pods.
The pods are compatible with all Keurig and Keurig 2.0 brewers, making your morning wake and bake as simple as pushing a button.
Brewbudz are available in different dosing strengths from 10 mg to 50 mg of THC, the compound in marijuana that gets you high, in both sativa (the strain of cannabis that picks you up) or indica (the strain that mellows you out). The companys patented extraction process allows the consumer to benefit from the complete profile of the cannabis flower, in a healthy and discreet manner, according to a news release. The coffee is responsibly sourced Arabica and also available in decaf; the tea is black, green and herbal; and the cocoa is dark chocolate.

(23,691 posts)I looked it up. I have refused to use the little coffee pods because I think they are a bane on our ecology. I don't know if they're all compostable, but I did learn, thanks to your post the difference between Compostable and Biodegradable.
Defining Compostable
All living creatures consume resources and generate waste. In a well-balanced ecosystem, one creatures waste is another creatures resource. Within the Earths natural cycles, waste that is bio-based and compostable is a healthy, renewable nutrient to new life. Petroleum-based waste is not. In seeking to make purchases that respect the Earth, consumers must understand the different meanings of the terms compostable, biodegradable, and bio-based.
Compostable:
Meets D6400 composting standards set by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM): Under a managed composting program, the product must 1) break down to carbon dioxide, water, inorganic compounds, and biomass at a rate similar to paper, 2) disintegrate into small pieces within 90 days, so that the original product is not visually distinguishable in the compost, and 3) leave no toxic residue. 1
Biodegradable:
Capable of disintegration by biological means; typically, composed of organic matter that can be readily decomposed by a wide variety of microorganisms; technically, composed of almost any material since with enough time, some microorganisms can decompose almost anything; for example, aluminum cans will biodegrade in the ocean in about 175 years, and hard plastic bottle caps will biodegrade in the ocean in about 400 years. 2

I will now seek products that are more compostable than biodegradable.
