Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsYo man, just upgraded from CONCAST to FIOS (the higher speed package) yesterday!
FIOS is a rocket! Geez, I have never seen speeds like this, both upload and download!
I am one of the first in my neighborhood here in D.C. (Capitol Hill) with FIOS. Perry, the installer, worked through a thunderstorm with lightning on the telephone pole outside getting this job done. What a 'tude! I held ladders and drilled a whole through the brick wall.

(63,216 posts)When we were switching from dial-up to high-speed in early 2008, I called for priced. Comcast wanted a billion dollars per minute, while Verizon wanted like $49 per month.
"Is that the FIOS thing I've been hearing about?" I asked.
"No," said Verizon. "FIOS isn't yet available in your area, but it should be very soon."
Jump to 2011, when we moved to a new house:
"Can I get FIOS?"
"No," said Verizon. "FIOS isn't yet available in your area, but it should be very soon."
Fast forward to 2016 when I was checking yet again for better rates, and I called Verizon.
"Um... FIOS?"
"No," said Verizon. "FIOS isn't yet available in your area, but it should be very soon."
And we're not on a desolate mountaintop, either. We're about 40 miles from Pittsburgh.
