I live next to some BLM land that has a cattle pond, maybe an acre.
We've had some rain, but not enough to fill the pond---until today.
We had a gully-washer this afternoon, and when it let up I went outside and
heard the roar of the frogs--the pond has water in it. The frog's roar sounds like
a large motor. It'll last for days. Water, water water. It's grand!

come out to mate. It's loud, there are thousands of them croaking for love.

(55,019 posts)had .92 at the house. we are coming up on 3 inches already! big wash hasn't run yet but ponds all caught, not full but we will get there, the freaking coral beans and ocotillos are already leafed out!
