Is this the best nail puller ever invented...

Ladies and gentlemen - I present the Crescent 56 nail puller.

It's big. It's ugly. It's heavy. But I've never found a nail it couldn't pull out of wood - and it does so with little damage.

His was embossed with that "Caution Wear Safety Glasses" thingy which started appearing around 1976.

That being said, he's right about the pinching - I raised a beauty of a blood blister using one when I was a kid. It was a short learning curve; I only did it once.

Back in the day, I used one often, but found they are lousy removing 'Sinker' nails, those hot glue coated nails they use today, and totally useless on pallet nails.

And I certainly agree, some of the modern nail designs are very difficult to pull out, which is a good thing in hurricanes and earthquakes.

I can usually get the job done with a pair of end nippers, but the trick is always the start. For a nail driven flush into wood, the removal does indeed tend to gouge things up a bit.

Pretty nifty.

Pinching the webbing between your thumb and finger is not something you will only do once.

It's only something you will WANT to do once, because it hurts like hell, and I have done it a few times
