"Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" = "The Shawshank Redemption" (just "wow!" that's all)
"Apt Pupil" (movie the same name) Sir Ian McKellen and Brad Renfro (another one who died too soon)
There was a fourth story, "The Breathing Method" that I don't remember anything about. I may have to re-read it one of these days.
I think the reason that "Stand By Me" affected me so deeply was that the four boys were exactly the age I was in 1959, and I could totally relate to everything they experienced (culturally, not the pistol nor the body)

I'd watch the hell out of it if someone ever got around to making it into a movie, though.
