(522 posts)Can't beat grandkids, especially when they come in pairs.
Where is your summer home? I'm in NE Georgia mountains, lots of Fla. snow birds up here.
Used to live in Murphy NC but missed the kids in Illinois, so here we are. Afraid SW Florida will be damaged for years. Guess I'll have to buy some boots this year😫

(522 posts)Sorry you have this to take some of the shine of the grandbabies.
I am in Hiawassee, not too far from Murphy.

(67,782 posts)Back when Hurricane Sandy hit New Jersey, my sister's house on Long Beach Island, a barrier island only about four blocks wide, was 10 miles from where it made land fall. They weren't allowed on the island for almost a month, imagine the anxiety of not knowing how bad the damage was.
When they finally got to the house, not a single bit of damage - NONE. And no flooding.
Fluky things can happen. Good luck.

(19,868 posts)...for me, it's not the house or the material things - those can be replaced. It's those sentimental things like family pictures, handed down knicknacks, the memories the house holds, etc.
