I have to admit, not that often. I have to really be interested to do so.

(15,805 posts)This silly poll makes light of one of the best aspects of DU, knowlege. Freely shared information, different viewpoints, open debates and lively discussions is at the heart of any democracy, and it is the bread and butter of these forums.
I do read many articles here, and I try to leave a brief comment or at least a rec, as a show of my appreciation for the OPs effort. Out of an abiding curiosity I follow a lot of links, and those lead to other links, and so forth, but eventually everything ends up with a funny cat video. How do they do that?

(37,457 posts)You obviously don't know me. I've been here for 13 years. If you wish to read 100% of the articles, awesome. I choose not to. It has to be interesting to me. Somehow I think I'm in the vast majority with not reading all the articles.
Best wishes.

(23,662 posts)takes the time to paste the minimum text to give me an idea of what I may be reading at the link... too many post here are just "omg did you see this?!1?"
and then a link...
I don't waste my time if they don't take the time TO INFORM me with a bare minimum of content... and I not clicking on any suspect link to begin with, as those posts automatically appear suspect, imo...
it appears too many are clambering to post first, drive up their own post count, or just packing the latest page so that finding real info is a bit of a chore, esp when there 6-7+ post of LBN items that constantly crop up as many don't take the time to look and see it's already posted...
so no, I pick and choose what I'm going to follow up on, and might miss some, but not much... ymmv

(17,326 posts)Maybe you know this already, dweller, maybe not. Just in case:
Clamber means to climb or scale in an awkward or difficult fashion, usually using both hands and feet. It is an intransitive verb. Related words are clambers, clambered, clamboring and clambored. Clambor originated from clamb, the Middle English past tense form of climb, an obsolete word.
Clamor means an uproar, a loud outcry or sustained noise. Clamor may also be used as an intransitive verb or transitive verb, meaning to make or bring about a loud outcry or a sustained noise. Related words are clamors, clamored, clamorer, clamorous and clamoring. The British spellings are clamour, clamours, clamoured, clamourer, clamorous. Clamor comes from the fourteenth century Latin clamor, a shout, a loud call and from clamare, to cry out.

(29,322 posts)I admit I don't click on too many because I don't want a whole bunch of tabs opened but sometimes there is information further down and for those that read it will flame you if you haven't read the full article.

(63,224 posts)In my years on DU, it's an extremely rare OP of more than 300 words that's worth reading all the way through.

(37,457 posts)How often do you click the link in the OP and then read that article ? Not that often, for me. I don't mean to be disrespectful of other posters on DU. We all have our own interests and I'm sure my articles go unread pretty often.

(63,224 posts)Some posters used to post crappy "look at me stuff" like a subject line of "Interesting find" and nothing but a blind link in the body of the message. This has waned in recent months in favor of the overused "link to tweet" crap now clogging DU, but that's my own windmill.
For actual posts with actual content, too often the OP isn't worth its length. Very seldom do I read the entirety of a linked article, and the source of that article is often a factor in my decision.

(47,568 posts)It's not like the person who linked to it actually wrote it. Maybe then I'd owe them a front-to-back reading. Otherwise, I read 'til I get the gist, then I move on.
