Half a million U.S. steel industry jobs are at risk from surging steel imports, according to a report from the Economic Policy Institute. The new study highlights the threats posed by a flood of imports and excess global steel capacity. United Steelworkers President Leo Gerard says this should be a wake-up call to Congress and the Obama administration. The U.S. steel sector supports up to half a million jobs that are at risk from a flood of unfairly priced and traded steel imports. Gerard says our economic and national security interests are at risk and political leaders appear to be sitting on their hands.
