My friend and former neighbor gifted me a wooden table

It was her Mom's. When her son moved back to the area, she let him have it for his rental. He's moving and doesn't want it, so she asked me if I'd like to have it. It is a round table with 2 leaves. I think it might be walnut. I was friends with her Mom and Dad before I knew her, because she lived away. I spent a lot of time visiting with her Mom and Dad and sat at that table pretty often. I'm glad to have something with such nice memories, almost like a family heirloom.

They're so much more useful in small dining spaces.
I have a great-grandmother's dropleaf table. It seats 6, but is only 2feet wide when the leaves are dropped.

It'll probably be after Christmas before I can do anything with it. Her Mom had it covered with a plastic cloth, with the padded back. it was on there so long, there is some gunk stuck to the top. I'll look into the least of what what I can do to restore the top. The legs are great, original finish. The wood is dark, tight grain. It could be a stained finish, but the table is heavy, too. I have my fingers crossed
