Path to the Lake

I’m trying to get back into painting since not doing any painting for several decades. This one I did from a photograph I took and was fun to do. I’m hoping to learn and improve with every effort. I’m still trying to figure out where I am as an artist…. I think I’m sort of a quick-and-loose painter, I did this in basically two sittings.

1. That's very nice

I really like your idea of painting a path to the beach. You did a great job depicting the myriad footsteps that have churned up the sand along the path. You captured the colors of the sand and vegetation and the contrast with the vegetation. It makes me think of the perfect beach days of my youth with the inviting sea just over that next hill! And of building sand sculptures on the beach.

I like this very much. It feels good, inviting, promising, nostalgic, and magical. Thanks! Your colors are beautiful and your brushwork is excellent.
