And contrasting with the bright orange, the gray background does work well

And, I agree, a neutral background is best. You don’t want to distract from the kitty.

I just recently did a portrait of my pupper and I appreciate your animal technique. You did such beautiful eyes.

I think you made the right choice leaving the background neutral. Well done! And what a pretty cat.

It's so hard to reproduce a painting in a photograph. The colors aren't quite as orange in the actual painting. I guess I could play around in PhotoShop, but it's close enough.

Certainly a compelling one with her orange fur and brilliant green eyes! I can see why you wanted to paint her. That stare she has speaks volumes! Be proud of your rendering of Lizzie. It is full of character and personality! I love it!

Thanks for sharing it with us!

Although I did spend the last week of December in the hospital because I fell at home and was unable to get myself up for three days. I’m recovering very well now and building my strength up and beginning to think of doing some art again. The fall straightened out my priorities for sure! I was lucky I didn’t break anything. It’s only a matter of strengthening my muscles which I can do with some exercise and being careful about where I step. But I’m able to do everything I need to like get in and out of bed, shower, stand up from my armchair, and, very importantly, cook my meals. So I’m still self sufficient, but just a bit shook up. Getting older isn’t easy! Sometimes it’s even shocking!

I for one, missed you around here! My first boss and mentor had a great line: "Getting old is not for the weak!" Words of wisdom from a wise old sage. I'm 67 and I know what he meant!
