I had a Mark Ryden s/n lithograph, rolled up inside...

...a plastic bag, which was inside the original shipping tube, sitting in the corner for the last five years.

I finally got it framed.

It is an odd paper size - 39" x 13.5" - so I took it to a local picture framer.

He matted/framed it, with non-reflective museum glass, for a great price.

Now I'm wondering about my choice of bubblegum pink for the matte, maybe I should have gone with a dark matte, like the color in the background of the image.

It's hard to tell, but the frame is a shiny metallic copper color.

Did I pick the wrong matte color?

It's a liitle "hotter pink" than I hoped for.

Edit typo.

The matte kind of overwhelms the colors from the image
but thats just my stupid opinion.

Gray or other neutral color would look incongruously somber.

So the pink matte is actually perfect for it. Perhaps you’re right that it could be a lighter, softer pink, but unless you absolutely want to change it the painting looks fantastic as is. I like the pink color and I think it works perfectly. I would leave it as it is now.

Picking matte colors has always been difficult for me. But I can certainly appreciate what others pick! It’s a bold pink and bold works very well with me. It’s a virtue in itself.

'Big Eyed....Blonde? 🤭

Yah, I remember the group, but what was their most popular song?

They do one 'pretty' song in their repertoire.

Imma mulling over your counter proposal.

Your print and matte and frame turned me on. 😊
