As one who plays slide, but outside that southern rock style, (electronic/experimental) I really like his breadth of influences, like Indian Qawaali music. He plays with a lot of internal calm, with little to no 'guitar face' arrogant noodling just for the sake of it. When he reaches for things, he does it in an exploratory, rather than cliched way. I like him.

I was so gobsmacked that I sat down on the floor. When I recovered, I found a recording, called my daughter who was away at school, and sent the recording to her. We have been fans ever since, and have heard her live three times.
