What's generally considered Taylor Swift's best song, followed by the one I like the most. 3 videos of each.

(Cross-post from the Lounge.)

Saying this first song is "generally considered" her best is based just on what I've read online, especially from magazines rather than fans posting on social media. And naming the song I like the most is not about arguing that it's the best (I like these almost equally well). It's just one that immediately appealed to me the first time I heard it (when she was live on Jimmy Kimmel's show). The one I like best tends to show up in the top 25 when her best songs are listed, though I have seen it ranked as high as #3 on a list with the other as #1 (of course).

Taylor's famous for writing songs about past relationships, and these are no exception. All Too Well, often named as her best song, was about her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal, which started when she was 20 (the song mentions her 21st birthday during the months they were involved) and he was 29. Out Of The Woods is about her relationship with Harry Styles when she was 22 and he was 18.

Her best song, according to those who know her music much better than I do (I prefer rock to pop and country): the long (10-minute) version with all the lyrics in a lyric video, the short version that was released initially, then the 15-minute film she released, with actors in what's an extended music video:

My favorite of her songs, so far: the original music video, then Taylor's version - the re-recorded version - and then the performance of the song, next to last in the setlist, from her 2015 concert in Sydney:

9. You're welcome! I've been aware of her music since she was in her teens, but I'm more into rock

than country or pop, and I didn't pay much attention to it till she was more pop than country.

The performance below of Out Of The Woods on Jimmy Kimmel's show in October 2014 - a few days before the album 1989 was released and 15 months before the track was released as a single - hooked me on the song the first time I heard it. But I posted a performance from a stadium show, the film of the 1989 tour, in the OP because it shows her power over that huge audience, and why Trump's supporters are worried about her political influence.

Yes, I’m old enough that ‘cool’ is my go to exclamation. She really is quite a phenomenon even before the whole NFL debacle. What a bunch of idiots. Taylor Swift, on the other hand, seems to be one very talented and intelligent person. I’m really glad to get a taste of her music.

Especially the line: "Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me..."

Touches my heart every time.
