(16,066 posts)Warren Hayes was the lead guitarist for Allman Brothers for the last 20+ years. Govt Mule is his band.
Derek Trucks stood next to him for 19 years. And his wife Susan Tedeschi has two Grammys.
Widespread has been selling out shows for over 30 years. They are from Athens. John Bell's voice is a musical instrument.

And, not southern Illinois. One of them is from Oak Lawn & spent a lot of his life in Frankfort, the other was from near Brookfield Zoo. I know both of them. Peterik & Sullivan.
The band was southern, but their biggest song were from Chicago.
