I heard a guy say it in a movie and thought "That would be a good song title."
I completely forgot that this song and the Bacharach & David song existed.
Here's mine.

Instead of finally finding their one and only and not having to "fall" in love again. I like it though.

Which handsome man are you? The one on guitar or the one on keys?

I decided to guitar player's voice was better suited to the song than mine, though we sang an equal number of lead vocals. (About 40% each)
We had to lower the key from D to C a few years later, at his request. I wrote it on D, because that key worked for me. Today, I'd want it in C, too.
Another fun note on this song: I did a demo for the guys. I told them if they had better ideas, do it, because they know their instruments & style better than I do.
I was surprised at the first rehearsal that the guitar player did my solo nearly note for note. I told him "You didn't have to do that." He said "There was no reason to change it."
As to the sentiment, that was the tone of the movie. I just extended the theme. Certainly nothing personal. At the time I'd been married over 10 years, and we're still married.
