...when I was a kid. It was my jazz coach's idea.
He gave me a fake book page with the basic chords & said come back next week with substitutions written out.
As typical, those alterations evolved & I would improvise a few verses.
I probably played it 2 years, but I don't recall if I ever played it in contests or recitals.
Very pretty tune.

This tune would indeed lend itself to a jazz piano version. But of course I love the vocals here in the original.

I didn't sing it, though I could have. It was strictly solo piano.
The really cool thing is that in those days there is zero doubt they sang it live while the band was playing.
No punching in; no autotune.
Sibg it good and let's move on. And, they did!
