Oasis Vibes in the Los Angeles Area: Reunion Tour at the Rose Bowl a Euphoria Moment at Britpop Icons' First LA-Area Gig

Liam, ever an amusing focal point on stage with his heavy parka in 85+ degree weather, told silly stories of running into a shark off the Santa Monica Pier and discussing the likelihood of the Los Angeles audience being willing and able to do the Poznan for “Cigarettes & Alcohol,” before instructing the gathered masses to do just that:

“Little By Little” was a noteworthy highlight. Though the song is from 2002’s Heathen Chemistry, an album whose success paled in comparison to Oasis’ 1990s output (only selling a little over 150,000 copies), the song brought a stirring singalong from throughout the Bowl, perhaps surprising considering the album’s initial lack of impact Stateside.

Moments like that spoke to the power of Oasis’ enduring catalog, suggesting that this is a band that has widened its audience as the years have flown by — a thought reinforced by the sheer volume of fans making it out to these stadium gigs, far and away the biggest venues the band has played in the country.

Liam’s farewell message of “Catch you again down the road” provided a bit more hope that this won’t, in fact, be the band’s only reunion activities.
