"Red Neckin' Love Makin' Night"

I didn't include the artist in the title because if I pointed out this is a 1981 Conway Twitty #1 hit, it would garner little interest. After all, back in the day he was the butt of many a joke among my rock & roll circle of friends. I've since learned not to discount any artist or genre lest I hear something that would fit on a mix tape.

Twitty, influenced by Elvis Presley, formed a rockabilly band around 1957 called The Rockhousers. By the mid '60s he'd decided he'd had enough rock & roll, especially the behavior of the fans and went full on C&W. He soon earned the name "High priest of country music", and that's when I first heard of him.
