If Female-Fronted 90's alt-guitar RAWK was your jam, like Hole, Belly, Breeders, L7, Throwing Muses, Sleater-Kinney

you gotta check this new band out, out of Melbourne. Their sophomore album (on Jack Whites label) is out for just under a month now and I've had it on repeat for a couple weeks, every track is solid, and It's REALLY good if you like this sound. And I would add ... there are most definitely early-U2 vibes on a bunch of the songs.

More 'nowadays' stuff I'd compare them to would be Alvvays, beabadobee & Wet Leg. The singer plays guitar on the record and in concert too, which is always cool in my book

They're okay. Talented. Tbh, I never cared for any of the other bands you're comparing them to, either. highplainsdem Friday #1

No one close to a Chrissie Hynde or Annie Lennox or Stevie Nicks or Tina Turner or Susan Tedeschi in those groups. So I'm not their audience. But Belair Lip Bombs (not a good name, but neither are the names of the other bands you mentioned) are more interesting than the pop tarts and most of the female soloists we hear these days. And I prefer bands and guitar rock to solo artists and overproduced pop songs by a committee of songwriters. So I wish them the best.

Here's video of the band from a couple of months ago. Set list/times in the YT description.

Remember when we made stuff like that in the USA? Anyways the singers dad was big into the early skateboarding scene (not sure if he was around at the time but he came to be fan of the people and brands and scene generally) and recommended the name. And yeah, those particular women are truly giants, but imho not everyone has to be as great as them to still make great music .

I can't 'do' cell phone videos, I'm too into my music really sounding good, kind of a hi-fi nerd but thanks for looking it up for me HPD. Hope you are well C

I like videos of live performances myself. They're usually more energetic than studio tracks and give me a better sense of how good a band really is.

Hope you are well

Fine, except for the Washington and Silicon Valley nightmares making life difficult for all of us.

I watch Tiny Desk and KEXP live videos (for example) borderline obsessively. Music just has to be produced and engineered decently so it sounds good for me to really enjoy it. Cell phone vids are neither When I watch youtube vids, it's on a low-five-digit component sound system (all of it bought over many years on craigslist or the like for MUCH less than that, I am not at all rich but I am obsessive about good sound quality and do a LOT of research before buying gear, even used stuff ... the covid days and gubmint cheese played a bit part of creating this setup lol) so any serious flaws in the source's sound quality tend to be really glaring on this rig. But again thanks for looking a live vid up for me I hope they do Tiny Desk or the like someday.

Also I like this band more than all those I named except Belly and Throwing Muses, cause I love me some Tanya Donnelly and Kirsten Hirsch
