Bernie Lynch, a founding member of Australian band Eurogliders, has died at 65 after a battle with cancer. A statement shared through the band confirmed his death and marked the loss of the guitarist, singer, and songwriter whose work helped shape one of Australias best-known pop acts of the 1980s.
His longtime creative partner Grace Knight also paid tribute, remembering a bond that stretched across decades in music and life. Lynch was a driving force behind Eurogliders from the start, helping build the groups sound and writing songs that stayed with listeners long after their first release.
Eurogliders formed in Perth in 1980 and went on to score major hits, including Heaven (Must Be There) and We Will Together. Lynchs songwriting played a central role in the bands rise, and his work remained a key part of its identity through reunions and later performances.
Beyond the charts, he was remembered as a generous collaborator and a lasting figure in Australian music.
