Who is Ken Hensley? He was the keyboardist and guitar player for Uriah Heep and today is his 74th birthday.
I'll never forget the first time I heard Heep. I was 16 and peaking my brains out in the parking lot of the local burger joint back in '70 when a friend arrived with this song cranked up on his 8 track. I'd never heard anything like it to that point. I hopped into his SS Chevelle and repeated the track until he threw me out.

(18,635 posts)I don't remember when, but it was after "Magician's Birthday".
I do remember it was Ken Hensley's birthday because they wheeled out a cake, so it must have been in late August. Maybe 1973 considering who I went with. We haven't changed a bit! hahaha
