He had some hits on his earlier records, too ... but they were Country Hits.

This is the only song I ever knew of his growing up. I know lots of them now.
I’ve been to his concerts...but not everybody knows his stuff. he’s considered a one hit wonder - not in my book but ask anyone what Steve Earle songs they know.
Most won’t know him and those who do will know this one and that’s all.

I seen Steve 5 times, including on Copperhead Road tour at the Fillmore in SF, 1988 baby. I have a signed copy of the Jerusalem CD, from when I saw him do a solo acoustic show at Amoeba Records in the Haight in 2000 just after that record came out.

Calling Steve a one-hit wonder just feels wrong to me ... even if it's arguably true ... the man's a f***ing giant. It's like calling Leonard Cohen a one-hit wonder cause Hallelujah is only song of his anyone knows, know what I'm saying?
