On the anniversary of Abbey Road. I was expecting a lot of insults to John Lennon, but it didn't happen. In fact, people were calling out Come Together as a great song.
One thing I've noticed when the Beatles are discussed, is that there is always one or two people who claim they are overrated. Compared to who? They never say.

(7,314 posts)It saddens me that people are even more unfamiliar with the music of the Big Band era. Greats like Artie Shaw, Count Basie, and Louis Jordan are pretty much forgotten.
I'm not worried too much about the Beatles legacy. I was on a bus once sitting near a group of 20 somethings who were discussing their favorite bands. The ones I recognized were all current. Then one of them said, "I think the Beatles are pretty good." The group then paused in respectful silence.
