Auditorium in San Francisco. Still have the program to that concert.

No one could play Chopin like Rubinstein. His touch was extraordinary

In an interview Rubinstein said that he used to play a piece of music like "this" and he played beautifully; then he said now I pay it like "this" and he played the same piece beautifully.
Side by side I can here differences between his younger self and older, but it is impossible for me to judge which is better.

Sonata in E flat major Opus 31, number 3 Beethoven
Prelude, Choral et Fugue Franck

Intermission


Fantasiestuckcke, Opus 12 Schumann

Scherzo in B flat Minor, opus 31 Chopin
Nocturne in D flat Major, opus 27 Chopin
Hungarian Rhapsody number 12 Liszt

He also played a couple of encores as I recall
