(16,864 posts)Knopfler is one of the most underrated artists. He's such an incredibly talented guitar player with subtlety complex playing patterns. He's also a truly talented songwriter.

My baby brother sends me a pic of him with his arm around Knopfler and says "Wish you were here"

I normally see my favorites play - I'm not rich or anything but I can do a road trip occasionally
And if the artists seems intent on skipping St Louis, they'll usually hit Chicago Memphis or Kansas City, which are all 5 hours or less from my house...
But I just never had the opportunity or flexibility to get to a Dire Straits or Mark Knopfler show.
It's funny, if he announces a US tour it's pretty much a lock that I'll have an overseas project come up.
Spent a month in Morocco/Western Sahara when he did the - Emmy Lou Harris shows.
I spent 6 weeks in Turkmenistan when he was on the road supporting Sailing to Philadelphia.
One of these days
