Charley Pride died just a few days ago. Don Helms was the steel guitar player for Hank Williams' group, The Drifting Cowboys. Hank Williams died on January 1, 1953.

Here's Don Helms playing "Bye Bye Blues," a song from 1925. The best known version, by Les Paul and Mary Ford, was released in January 1953, the same month that Hank Williams.

70's gibson. now i know why old banjo players are always the one guy in the band sittin down. thing weighs a ton.
i think the only way i get good at it is to play it like it's a peddle steel.
