When I first moved to NYC, our apt overlooked a courtyard so the main view we had were the apts on the other side. Anyway, the neighbors loved to blast their music, I mean BLAST it. And we had no A/C, so we had to endure with the windows open or swelter with them closed. So, one day, while they were on their "Saturday Night Fever" kick, and I was in a bad mood, I took my computer speaker, draped it out of the window, popped in Diamanda's "Schrei X" CD, and cranked it.
Didn't have a problem with them after that.
