I remember maybe age 9 or 10 discovering these fantastic guitarist. I remember sitting in my bedroom in my youth so intent on learning their songs licks turnarounds. Jimmy Reed oh yea.

Don't know if you ran across the information, but the other voice on his recordings was his wife. My husband had been the one who, as a kid, poured over these singers endlessly, and passed on some of the things he learned. He said that Jimmy Reed either couldn't read music or couldn't read words, one or the other, and that his wife always stood beside him and sang along to keep him aware of the parts he might not remember!

I never forgot that he and his wife both did the music.

I threw in only several other musicians' covers, but I do know many musicians did his music, too, even the Beatles, back then.

It's a delight hearing you are one of the more serious music fans who dared diving into the really original music done years before white singers swiped them and made a lot fo money!
