And our family got to see him live in 2019 in California.

My favo(u)rite Van Morrison story: Van played with the Doors in the 60's. During a live set, they played "Gloria", with Van singing. The crowd started booing. Apparently, Jim Morrison went ballistic, and he screamed at the audience "this is the guy who wrote the song" or words to that effect, with expletives deleted.

I've adored him for such a long time. His greatest hits album is a must have, and "Tupelo Honey" is an all time classic. However, I'm exceedingly disappointed in his stance on Covid. https://variety.com/2020/music/news/van-morrison-eric-clapton-covid-19-1234843728/

I am debating about whether Van really cares whether he lost a life-long fan, as I understand he's worth nearly $100 million. But this is a matter of life and death.

Sorry to bring politics into music, but as we know, they're inextricably entwined.

Wish you wouldn’t have told me!

I try not to let politics inform my musical tastes...but it’s kinda hard to find openly right wing musicians unless you’re looking for country or nazi punk soooo....

I am not as big a fan of Eric Clapton. He's very good too, but it was his great friendship with George Harrison that always made me think he was cool regardless of what I felt about his music.

I wonder what George would think about Eric if he were still around (God bless you, as I know he does, my dear George!).

As for Clapton, when I read about his Covid stance and also his incredibly racist rantings from the mid 1970s (heroin addict or not), I have severe doubts. John and Yoko were junkies too, but they were ALWAYS about peace and love. I'm kinda' of a believer that when you are stoned/drunk, the real you comes out. John and George got through their addictions and ALWAYS stayed true to peace, but I am no longer sure what Van and Clapton are about.

I hope you're having a good evening. I still love his music but like the other poster am disappointed in his Covid views. No one is perfect I guess.
