All the way from Independence Mississippi give it up for Mr. Rural Burnside...

He put out several electric albums backed up by various bands of various abilities, ranging from adequate to awful.

But this is how I prefer R.L Burnside. Acoustic, alone and vicious

Dude could lay down a funky hypnotic groove by himself that most full bands couldn't match.

His version of "Stagger Lee" is amazing, recasting Stag as a badass folk hero:
