The Buggles - Video Killed The Radio Star
Where were you in August 1981 when MTV launched? I was in my apartment getting ready for history to be made, weed, beer and adrenaline feeding my desire for the first video to debut at Midnight.
I think I had MTV on all the time for about 2 years after its debut. I don't ever remember watching regular TV during that time.
Although the video had already been released in 1979, the debut as the first video on MTV firmly entrenched the song in the annals of Rock history.
