Some will recall that i talked about recording stuff this winter, but couldn't master to digital.
Well, now i can!

A few notes:
1. I'm playing everything but the drums. Those are a machine.
2. There are warts. I liked the feel & structure of the tunes, and i didn't bother with punching in because i "could have" sung a line better. I tried to keep everything i could, first takes.
3. I try to produce so that there is no lack of low or high. You might want to boost or cut bass & treble to suit your taste. But, the low end sounds are there and i think the sound is bright enough. You might disagree.
4. These are old classic rock songs, from the 60s to the 90s that i always liked. So, these are my versions.
5. There are 2 more in the pipeline.
But, i hope you enjoy them.

But, the drumbeat (3 kicks and a snare) changing to a straight rock beat during the solos is a twist.
I wish i would have added a little more echo to the voice, but that's ok.

(17,327 posts)Your voice, your playing. Hard to select a favorite! What instruments were you playing in Sweet Jane? Amazing. Love, love Come Together.
So glad you shared them. Have you been a professional musician?
Sweet Jane is piano, bass, acoustic guitar, a slilghtly dirty wah guitar underneath (it's not there during the piano interludes) then there's a shimmer guitar at the beginning of the lines in the chorus (that's a strat through a totally clean Marshall) and a lead guitar part at the end played on my JS-1000 through a Boogie.
I played semi-professionally. A couple thousand gigs, but just clubs. My last band lasted 19 years together. All 4 of us were good players. My real job was scientist.
Come Together was fun to do. The string quartet part, the orchestral hits, the wah guitar. I actually recorded all three vocal parts complete. Then just turned on the channels where i wanted the harmonies to come in. Seemed to help the phrasing. That was a fun record, but production was a lot of work.

(65,168 posts)The drums are a Digitech Trio.
I actually "teach" it a song and it comes up with a selection of drum and bass parts. I turned down the bass completely and played those myself, even though some of the automated ones weren't bad. So, i didn't actually program the drums. I just taught the thing and then customized a bit.
I hate programming drum machines.

I swear I thought it was Neil Young and Crazy Horse doing All Along the Watchtower before I realized it was you.
