Been refreshing my mind on their catalog as it's been awhile since I heard this stuff, and these guys are really pretty badass ...
This is a smoking-good cover of this classic

In the meantime, more Placebo...

(33,643 posts)Ben Gibbard's vocal styling is SO MUCH like the Placebo singer. I guess they both started at same time so I won't call one a rip-off of the other, but ... yeah. It's trippy.
Colin Melloy from Decemberists sounds like both of them quite a bit as well.
I dig all these bands, so ... thx for the heads-up, will look forward to the new one, meanwhile catching up on Placebo as I only really ever heard their pre-2000 stuff, and I think I actually like that early stuff even more ... now. Pretty damn good band.
Their song "The Bitter End" actually reminds me of Rush, strangely enough.

(25,923 posts)Totally. I really need to give Death Cab for Cutie more of a listen after seeing Jason McGerr talking about Neil Peart on the Rush documentary.
I was thinking that I heard them on some soundtrack, but I can't recall which one, and I don't see anything listed on the wiki.

(33,643 posts)90's and later years Rush I mean. Obviously they're not quite that level of musicianship, but the songs ... alot of them have a similar sound and vocal style. Maybe a bit more neurotic in terms of the subject matter though
AFA DCFC goes, even if this was the only song they ever did, I'd like them just from this cause it's so freaking good. I do like others of theirs but this is my fave. REALLY loud. Brilliant tune.
