(4,874 posts)The video is amazing. What I notice most is (a)no one is overweight, and (b) the young women show no signs of plastic surgery so common in modern media. Naturally beautiful.
What in the hell has happened to us?

To answer the OP's question, I've never heard this before. It's a good tune. I liked Manfred Mann.
Another video suggests this was the first color broadcast of the Ed Sullivan Show.

(57,425 posts)The first tune sounded like "Louie, Louie." This one sounds like something from The Byrds.
I've seen a picture of DD&B online that I'll post if I can find it. Pix of them are all over, but this one is taking a little bit of searching.

(3,064 posts)I even bought the 45. I didn't hear it a whole lot on the radio in the States but it topped the UK Charts. Such a great song. Brings back a lot of fond memories.

(3,064 posts)This was done in 1966.This may have been their last single featuring Paul Jones, a truly great rock singer. Why he wasn't huge is just a mystery, kinda like Steve Marriott. Steve was a much bigger star than Paul, but they both should have been bigger.
Paul's pretty much known as the guy who sang Doo Wah Diddy, and he wasn't even known by his name, just the guy who sang it.
Mike d'Abo replaced him in 1968 and while they did have two hits, Blinded by the Light and The Mighty Quinn, he was a far inferior vocalist.
Paul didn't like the pop direction it was going in.Before he joined the Manfreds Paul performed duets with " Elmo Jones", a stage name Brian Jones often played under. Brian and Keith Richards approached him about being the lead vocalist for a group they were forming. He turned them down.
The good news is that at almost 80 years of age his health appears good.
