I've been listening to a lot of this old music lately. I like a lot of 70s Country and crossover music too. Reminds me of being young.

Elvis, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis ended up doing as much Country as he did Rock. It was especially common for singers who were from the South. I like a lot of that stuff that's hard to classify; it just sounds good.

Other than big band and some folk and jazz, anyone with musical talent tended to play country. The Grand Ole Opry broadcast everywhere and was the big show especially before TV. If you played guitar you played country until rock came along.
