- Written by Louis Prima in 1935, This is not much of a song from WW2 but it is one of the most famous songs from the Big Band era.

2. Long a favorite!

Have always loved the Big Band sound, maybe because I heard it in utero. In any case, I was surprised to find this number on the table-top juke box selector in a bar where my gang, then in our mid-20s, hung out. And it got played at least once a night. The owner said it was the only song his regulars asked to be kept whenever new songs were rotated in. Now I'll have to take a trip to Albuquerque to see if that bar is still there . . .

3. That's a wonderful story, the bar owner was a love! In college

I enjoyed an album of Frank Sinatra's greats including, 'All or Nothing At All' which I was really fond of. And mom told us about outdoor dances they went to on campus where noted to bands like Tommy Dorsey played.

For good reason the classics remain alive and well! Keep on listening.
