jimmy buffett - southern cross (live) excellent version of the CSN classic (flawless cowbell level)

Camerawork is awful, but the performance & sound is LEGIT.

I freaking love this song ... and Jimmy does it up right here, big time ...

I played a couple songs with Jimmy at his bar in Key West. Probably 30 years ago.
At that point, I think that joint was his only bar.
He still lived in KW back then and my wife's college roommate knew him. (She was a case worker for social services in Jefferson County)
She told him her friends were visiting from Chicago and that I was a musician.
I played a song on piano, and added a high harmony on "Margaritaville".
Then, he says " You play guitar too, right?". I nodded yes, and he takes off his guitar and hands it to me.
We did "Teach Your Children". The guitar player told me to pop in & out whenever I wanted to. I kept it light to not get in the way. I used falsetto to double the lead vocal, one octave up during the harmony parts.
And, when we were ready to leave, the server told me everything was on the house!
A pretty good Sunday evening!

we lived in South Florida during the 80's, probably later than this story. Have always made a point of seeing JB when possible.

We got married in 1980, and starting around 1985, we went every 3 years or so until around 2015.
My wife also has an old friend that lives in Tavernier. So, we'd visit both. Then, going back every few years, we ended up with people we had to see every trip.
I donated all my frequent flyer miles to Make A Wish, right before I retired, because flying seems like a job. (I traveled enough to have taken over 1,200 flights. I'm done).
My best guess was that this happened in 1991, but that might not be accurate.

we've been to a number of his concerts, but have been to KW only once. We were walking down Duval st thinking we'd get dinner at Margaritaville but the line stretched for 75+ feet.

We found another place, and decided we'd get lunch at Margaritaville the next day. When we were seated, the waiter came up to us and said "too bad you weren't here last night, Jimmy stopped in & jammed with the band".

I think the crowds at his concerts are almost as entertaining as Jimmy is.

I have 26 of his cd's

Great stories all around. Jimmy is a magnificent entertainer and visionary. He is not, however, in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In my view, this negates the authenticity of said Hall. "Jimmy is not a true rocker, " they said. "He markets a lifestyle". I'm sure he cries himself to sleep every night with his three quarters of a billion dollars.
